Book Design, Too

Have a book that needs a cover design? Lynn Miller Design can help with that. Here are two books for which Lynn designed the cover (and actually wrote the text of the first and did the drawings for the second). The coloring book is published and available through Memorial Presbyterian Church, St. Augustine, FL. "Strength and Beauty are in God's Sanctuary" is in production and should be available for purchase in May 2015. 

 

Can't See the Forest..Wait...Yes, You Can!

Who wouldn't want a forest on their office wall? And this forest is complete with a much-loved dachshund! We can paint on your walls, too! Your home, your office, your church. And our brushes travel if you aren't in the central Mississippi area.

Lynn's work is hanging on the gray wall just past the register as you walk in the door. Work will change monthly-ish, so if you don't see what you like on this visit, come back again.

Painted Furniture for Every Room

This television armoire was painted in the style of a stone castle. One side has a rampant lion banner, and the other a painted stained glass window. The four panels of the folding doors were painted to look like leaded windows.

The Pre-Michelangelo Sistine Ceiling...Sort Of

Before Michelangelo got hold of the Sistine Chapel ceiling it was covered with stars in a night sky.

Perhaps it didn't have a crescent moon with a smiling face, but this ceiling painting does. 

The ceiling and painting are in a front door entry.

Transforming a Room

What about a mural on one or more walls? Here a dining room goes from khaki to inspired-by-Scotland. The subject matter was chosen by the homeowner, and the colors echo other paint choices throughout the house.

And even the princess of the house, Bonnie Belle, made an appearance on the wall.

The project took about 40 hours and was painted using latex wall paint. The design was inspired by a view of Loch Ness and Castle Urquhart. Look closely and you might catch a glimpse of Nessie...

Sun, Moon and...Glass?

When the sun shines through stained glass, the light seems to burn into the new space. The sun design (right) is directly inspired by that phenomenon. The design on the left considers the lesser light of the moon. Though the moon's reflected light is softer than the sun's burn, moonlight filters down and brings a silver shine to earth's landscape. The moon design also features that dot at the top that might be Venus, the evening star, or might be an allusion to the origin of pearls. Which tale of origin do you like best: pearls are dewdrops of moonlight that fell into the ocean and were swallowed by oysters, pearls are tears of Aphrodite, pearls fell from the sky when dragons fought.
