These panels were originally used as doors that hid an over-the-fireplace television space. When the owner moved to a neighboring state, the panels were removed from the family room walls and are now used as a fireplace screen for a non-functioning fireplace. The design is a harlequin pattern using black and white opaque class with a cobalt blue accent diamond and border. Each panel (from edge to edge of wooden frame) is 12" x 36".
After placing the screen, the homeowner realized the concrete slab that served as the hearth also needed a make-over. A little paint and sealer and...voila...slate tiles courtesy of Lynn Miller Design. A similar concrete hearth in another room was painted to look like marble.
